Whether a child, teenager or adult, some individuals are best benefited by orthodontics (braces) to achieve straight teeth.  We even have cosmetic tooth colored brackets to minimize that “metal mouth” look.  Children should be evaluated by age 6 to determine if they need orthopedic development of the jaw bones.  This can greatly decrease the chances of having to extract teeth later to relieve crowding.  Also it is critical to evaluate your child’s upper airway.  If there is a problem with airways, this can often lead to mouth breathing which can cause several different malocclusions, TMD, snoring, and sleep apnea.
